Devon County Council have a number of developments available at the moment, with more in the pipeline.

What is available now for use by the public

• RSS feeds for news, planning applications, consumer safety alerts and webcasting
• Flickr account for Libraries (Where in Devon?)

   

• Facebook/bebo pages for youth participation and engagement (I include no link here as the group is by invite only)

   

• a Twitter feed
• A google earth virtual tour of the Dawlish Discovery Walk
• Webcasting of council meetings (not that exciting perhaps but funky in local gov terms!)
• MyDevonTV a monthly video news bulletin
• Devon Towns interactive Map This is part of our local intelligence network

Coming with the launch of our new site design

• Social bookmarking
• Tag Clouds
• User customisation (similar to redbridge I and BBC)
• Increased RSS feeds across the whole site
• Email to a friend

Projects underway and/or in discussion

• An official corporate presence in Facebook/Bebo/MySpace co-ordinating a wide range of services and opportunities for residents

   

• Further usage of Flickr for user generated image
• An internal social networking platform integrated with the intranet for greater collaboration and knowledge sharing
• Greater use of Google Maps and Google Earth
