  • Social Media for Councillors leading of from our involvement in the 21st Century Councilor project we have developed social media introduction sessions for councillors. Collaborating with councillors from other authorities we are currently organising sessions throughout the region.

We are currently looking at how social media can change the way we communicate and deliver services to citizens, in a place that is convenient and preferred by them (e.g. Facebook) - we've entered an R&D phase and are about to seek a mandate to take this work further forward, with political support.

We have also been working on a concept for delivering joined-up public services using social media applications and techniques.  This seeks to connect special interest groups, communities, community and voluntary agencies and the public sector together, using 'place' as the common denominator.  This model is being extended to connect practiotioners together across the public and voluntary sector though a social networking approach....as I said this is in the concept stage, but is potentially really exciting and will begin to change the nature of the relationships.
